What to know
Matsqui's dairy and berry farms, north of central Abbotsford along the Fraser River, mean a different physical load than most neighbourhoods send to Dr. Alex Sattar's chiropractic practice — hours on tractors, repetitive bending in the fields, and heavy equipment work. Dr. Sattar treats the spine and extremity joints together, since vibration and repetitive bending rarely affect just one area.
What Does Chiropractic Care Address for Farm Equipment Work?
Prolonged tractor and equipment vibration compresses the lumbar discs and can aggravate sciatic nerve irritation over time. Dr. Sattar combines spinal adjustment with soft-tissue work to reduce that compression and ease the muscle guarding that builds around it.
Who Should Book From Matsqui?
Dairy and berry farm workers with recurring low back pain or sciatica, anyone doing repetitive bending or lifting on the job, and residents with ordinary mechanical back pain are common patients from this area.
How Long Does Treatment Take?
An acute strain from a single lifting incident often responds within a few visits. Sciatic symptoms tied to years of vibration exposure take a longer, progressively reassessed course of care.
How Much Does a Visit Cost?
Cost depends on assessment versus follow-up. WorkSafeBC claims for accepted workplace injuries are billed directly at no cost to you; other visits are billed to your extended health insurer where covered.

Dr. Alex Sattar
Chiropractor
I was raised in Abbotsford since moving from the Philippines when I was 6 years old. I am proud to call this community home after all these years. Sports has been a big part of my life and I wanted to continue with that connection with sports as I got older. I have played football for almost 21 years and counting. Ranging from high school to the Canadian Junior Football League to now touch football on weekends. I also play tennis and have recently picked cycling as a new hobby. Having been in sports for so many years I have met a lot of Chiropractors. That is why I made the decision to become a Chiropractor. I graduated from the University of the Fraser Valley with my Bachelor of Kinesiology and then went to the University of Western States in Portland where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science as well as my Doctor of Chiropractic. As a chiropractor I look at the body as a whole. We have always been told that everything is connected, and that statement definitely is true. I work a lot of the soft tissues the move our body as well as adjusting the many bones that hold our body together. I use many techniques to work on soft tissues such as Cupping, Pin and stretching, and massage. I can adjust the spine or other parts of the body manually or mobilize the joints depending on patient preference.
