Your Enhanced Care allowance, explained simply
ICBC pre approves twenty five physiotherapy sessions and twenty five chiropractic sessions in the first twelve weeks after a crash, along with twelve sessions each of massage therapy, active rehab, acupuncture and clinical counselling. None of it needs a physician sign off first, and you do not need to have been at fault for the collision to qualify. All you need is an open claim number and the date of the accident.
Our Willoughby reception team submits claims directly to ICBC on your behalf, so treatment covered by your pre approved allowance typically does not require any payment at the time of your visit.
When a headache is more than a headache
It is common after a highway speed collision to feel foggy, off balance or unusually sensitive to light and screens in the days that follow, even without any visible head injury. These can be signs of a mild concussion, sometimes called post concussion syndrome when symptoms linger. A systematic review of vestibular rehabilitation after concussion found meaningful reductions in symptom scores and improved balance measures following structured exercise based therapy, which reinforces why early recognition matters rather than assuming symptoms will simply pass.
If your assessment at Willoughby points toward these symptoms, your physiotherapist can incorporate vestibular and visual tracking exercises into your existing physiotherapy sessions, no separate referral or additional claim category required.

Physiotherapy assessment and treatment for concussion related symptoms falls within your standard pre approved physiotherapy allowance, and clinical counselling is separately available if anxiety or sleep disruption is part of your recovery.
That is completely normal too. Most of our Willoughby patients present with straightforward whiplash and back strain, and our concussion trained team simply means we are equipped for the cases that do involve dizziness or balance symptoms, not that every patient needs that pathway.
